I know this will be long, so I will present this in pro's & con's, a summary of my background a little, a summery of my experiences, and then a more detailed follow up on some of those pro's/con's.

All in all, my wife and I are really happy with it. It's only been the first week, so time will tell.

Some of the pro's and con's might appear to be double listed, as some are a plus and a minus.

PRO'S
* Sucks - pulls dirt out of somewhere where my last vacuum couldn't find it.
* a bit quieter than any vacuum I have had...lower pitch as well. My wife and I can actually talk at reasonable levels when the vacuum is running.
* Vacuum head self adjust to floor, so no bending down to turn the @!#$ switch on most vacuums.
* Attachments lock into place, so they don't come off when using them
* Dirt canister removes as one unit (no dirt on the floor), dumps out of bottom over a trash can - some dust may come up, but small

Most Amazing Vacuum Ever!!!!

Great, but has design flaws.
The DC41 is a great product and is probably the best vacuum out there. But that hasn't stopped me from noticing a few defects. There are really 2 major ones that nearly made me return this product.
The first issue is that they got rid of the foot lever that typical vacuums have to engage the beater bar. Instead you just force it down and start vacuuming and when you are done you just put it back up and it latches and stays upright. This is pretty neat but when you are putting it upright there are 2 distinct things that happen, it engages the wand hose and then it engages the lock that holds it up. The switch for the hose is much louder and happens first so this leads you to believe the vacuum is upright and to let go when it is not latched properly causing it to fall over if you are not quick enough to catch it. This makes me respond by putting it upright much more forcefully then I want to do to something I've bought for nearly $600.
The second main issue is the path the...

Description :
<!--
DC41 Animal is a Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaner for powerful all-around dirt and pet hair removal. The machine’s cleaner head has an active base plate, which self-adjusts automatically for optimal contact with all floor types. On hard floors the base plate lowers to create an efficient seal, and the brush bar lifts clear off the floor to protect delicate surfaces. On carpet the base plate rises and the brush bar lowers for optimum bristle penetration – removing ground-in dirt and pet hair from different depths of carpet pile. And because the cleaner head adjusts automatically, there are no dials and you don’t need to bend down to make adjustments.

Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other cyclone. DC41 Animal has Radial Root Cyclone technology with remodeled airflows to maximize suction power. It also comes with a Mini turbine head to clean pet hair and dirt from confined spaces, upholstery, stairs and the car. DC41 Animal also has patented Ball technology. It turns on the spot, which allows you to manoeuvre more easily around obstacles and into awkward spaces. And because the motor and other key technologies are located in the ball, there are fewer components on the outside of the machine. This makes it easier to steer closer to edges.

Patented Dyson Technology

New Radial Root Cyclone Technology Ordinary vacuum cleaners rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. As you use them, the tiny holes in the bag clog up with particles of dust. This restricts the flow of air, so the vacuum cleaner loses suction. Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. They use cyclone technology, which spins the air at incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the bin. No bag. No loss of suction.

Dyson has been continually refining cyclone vacuum technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago. DC41 Animal has new Radial Root Cyclone technology. Reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so that the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles. These refinements help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the airflow.

Ball Technology to Help You Steer with Ease Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaners use patented Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which turns on the spot so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist.

The ball itself is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene- the same material used in the manufacture of car dashboards. It combines high impact strength with the resistance to distortion. The ball also holds the heaviest component, (the motor), positioned towards the base for a lower center of gravity and greater stability.

Features

Self-adjusting cleaner head: DC41 Animal has an active base plate. It creates the optimal cleaner head contact for every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining suction power on all floor types – wood, carpet, vinyl and tile.

Mini turbine head to remove pet hair from awkward spaces: Pet hair can gather in hard to reach places and stick to upholstery. The Mini turbine head attaches to the machine’s wand to remove hair from confined spaces that would otherwise be hard to reach.

Instant release wand: DC41 Animal has an instant release, long reach wand for cleaning stairs and hard to reach areas – it stretches up to 5 times in length. There are no separate parts to assemble.

Extra tools: DC41 Animal comes with a Combination tool and a Stair tool. The Combination tool has a debris nozzle that converts to a brush tool for dusting. The Stair tool removes dirt and dust from corners and against vertical edges of stairs.

Captures allergens, expels cleaner air: Dyson cyclones capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size, including pollen, mold and bacteria.

Approved for allergy sufferers: All new Dyson upright and canister vacuums are certified asthma & allergy friendly by the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America. Dyson cyclones capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size, including pollen, mold and bacteria.

5-Year Warranty DC41 Animal floor comes with a 5 year warranty - parts and labor guaranteed by Dyson.

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]You Get What You Pay For!!!
We were going to buy the DC07, but decided the DC25 was worth the upgrade....boy, were we right!!!
The main clencher is the ease of using the attachment tools, with the DC25, you just extend the telescoping pole, and, voila! you're ready to go!the DC07 requires plugging/unplugging to use the attachment tools I found myself attacking every corner and groove with specks of dirt/cobwebs in it (LOVE this thing for cleaning the ac intake grates and the fins of our air filters!)...most of them without ever having to bend over.
Of course there is the fantastic suction, but then, you expect that from Dyson's reputation...it was disgusting what it got out of our carpet (we have no pets, no kids, and don't wear shoes in the house; I vacuum very regularly, anyways) the first time.
If you don't think you'll use the attachment/tools much, the cheaper models might work for you, but if you appreciate being able to easily attack the tiny corners and grooves no upright can fit into,...
Outstanding!
This thing is amazing!

I have wanted a Dyson ever since they first came out, but when I went to a store to look at them, it was so heavy I would need one for each level of my house and not enough closet space to store them.

This is under 12 pounds, fits easily in a closet, and is so light it's very easy to carry up stairs. I'll admit I'm not a fan of cleaning but being a female engineer I certainly appreciate well-designed products. This one has many clever features. The cleaning head is low-profile, so it easily hugs floor boards under kitchen cabinets (huge plus!). The ball design is incredibly inventive and so easy to use. It's like the difference hauling a suitcase around that has weels that go in only one direction vs. the new ones with pivot wheels - makes SO much sense and doesn't hurt my back to use it.

Cleaning power is great! It isn't especially labelled for pet hair cleanup, but does a great job. I cleaned once with my old vaccuum,...
Worth every penny...
I was skeptical about Dyson vacs in general because of the price, but I have to say this is probably one of the best purchases I've ever made for several reasons. The main reasin is that I have nerve damage and less than normal cartilage in my lower vertebrae, which made vacuuming very painful and laborous. On top of that, I have two dogs so I vacuum all the time. This vacuum is literally a miracle for me. It is so lightweight and so easy to maneuver that I don't have any pain after doing the whole house. That is really saying something, since things as small as leaning over for 10 minutes to wash the dishes causes me pain. It practically glides effortlessly across my floors (which are half carpet and half hardwood). Seriously, I almost cried tears of joy the first time I used it.

In addition, it works spectacular, and just snapped together out of the box. The first time you use it you'll see that so much thought went into the design specifcially for functionality. It's...

The Dyson DC25 Multi-Floor Upright Vacuum Cleaner
The Dyson DC25 Multi-Floor Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson DC25 Multi-Floor Upright Vacuum Cleaner

DC25 Multi floor is a lightweight Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner that uses patented Root Cyclone technology for no loss of suction. It has been engineered for powerful cleaning of every floor surface, with a motorized brush bar that can be turned off for hard floors and delicate rugs. DC25 Multi floor also includes patented Ball technology, which allows you to steer with ease around obstacles such as furniture and household appliances. It rides on a ball, so there's no more pushing back and forth to turn corners. At just 16.12 lbs, DC25 Multi floor is one of Dyson's lightest full-size uprights.

Patented Dyson Technology

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology work better. As they work, they file patent applications to protect their inventions from copycat manufacturers. That's why the only place you'll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine.

DC25 Multi floor uses the following patented Dyson technologies:

Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone technology
Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone technology
Root Cyclone Technology, for no loss of suction

Ordinary vacuum cleaners rely on bags and filters to trap dust and dirt. Air is meant to flow through tiny holes, leaving dust and dirt behind. The problem is that these tiny holes quickly clog up with particles of dust. This chokes the flow of air, so the vacuum cleaner loses suction. Dyson vacuum cleaners don't rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. They use patented Root Cyclone technology, which spins the air at incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the clear bin. No bags, no loss of suction.

Ball Technology, to help you steer with ease
Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone technology
The motor of the DC25 is located inside the ball for a lower center of gravity

Have you ever gotten frustrated pushing an ordinary upright vacuum cleaner back and forth, back and forth to steer around furniture and other obstacles? Have a look underneath it, and you'll see that's because it sits on fixed wheels – perfect if all you want to do is travel in a straight line, but not so good at corners. Frustration is an important source of invention for Dyson engineers – it sparks new ideas, new ways of solving problems. It was their frustration with fixed wheels that led them to develop a new way of turning corners.

Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaners use patented Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which pivots around itself, so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist. The idea for Ball technology came about from a Dyson engineer studying new ways to steer. It started crudely - an old wand handle attached to a wheel. Eventually the wheel became a ball- an ideal home for the motor.

The ball itself is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene – the same material used in the manufacture of car dashboards. It combines high impact strength with resistance to distortion. The ball is also where you'll find the motor. By putting the motor inside the ball, at a neutral point, Dyson engineers were able to lower the machine's center of gravity and improve maneuverability even more.

DC25 Multi-Floor Product Features:

Dyson’s multi floor cleaner head
The motorized brush bar spins up to 90 times per second to dislodge dirt and pet hair
1. Motorized Brush Bar, for powerful pet hair removal.

DC25 Multi-Floor has a motorized brush bar for removing dirt and pet hair that have lodged deep inside carpets. The stiff bristles on the brush bar spin at high speeds - up to 90 times per second – to agitate the carpet pile and dislodge dirt and pet hair so that it can be vacuumed up and removed. If you also have hard floors or delicate rugs, the brush bar can be turned off so you can use DC25 Multi-Floor on these surfaces too.

Quick-draw Telescope Reach Wand
The Telescope Reach Wand instantly extends to 16 ft for high-reach cleaning.
2. Quick-draw Telescope Reach Wand, for cleaning stairs and other high-reach areas.

When you want to clean hard-to-reach spots like stairs and ceilings, you can use the quick-release wand on your DC25 Multi-Floor. The single-action wand nstantly extends to 16 ft, with no awkward components to assemble. You can also attach tools and accessories, extending your cleaning abilities even further.

3. Washable HEPA filter captures allergens, expels cleaner air.

DC25 Multi-Floor includes a sealed HEPA (High-Efficiency Particle Air) filter to trap tiny particles as small as 0.1 microns. That’s about the size of a single particle of cigarette smoke. Particles this small include common household allergens such as pollen, mold spores and dust mites. And because the filter is washable you won’t need to replace it. Just give it a rinse once a month with cold water.

Clear bin lets you see when it needs emptying
The bin empties hygienically with a push of a button.
4. Clear bin lets you see when it needs emptying.

The bin on a Dyson vacuum cleaner is transparent so you can see when it needs emptying – and just how much dust, dirt, and pet hair your new Dyson machine has picked up. Emptying is quick and hygienic – just press the button to release the dirt.

5. Approved for allergy sufferers.

All new Dyson upright and canister vacuums are certified asthma & allergy friendly by the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America.

6. No extra costs.

Other vacuum cleaners are still designed to need replacement bags and filter. Dyson vacuum cleaners don't need bags and have washable filters, so there are no extra costs.

7. 5-year parts and labor warranty

You'd be amazed at some of the tests that Dyson carries out to ensure they're as tough and reliable as possible. During development, a push/pull rig moves Dyson vacuum cleaners a minimum of 5,740,157 feet. The hose is kinked 9,828 times. The bin is opened 1,560 times. Upright vacuum cleaners undergo 212 different validation tests, canisters 240. That's why Dyson are so confident in their machines - they warranty all new uprights and canisters for 5 years, parts and labor.

Kenmore 85920 PowerSpin Floor / Rug Cleaner steamvac with spinscrub

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]The Best Spin Steamvac EVER - at a reasonable price
I purchased this Kenmore PowerSpin, after my Hoover's collection tank blew another gasket, and cracked AGAIN. This SteamVac was practically the same but, Designed much better and had larger capacity tanks and about $100.00 cheaper. More convenient. Easier to use. I just lent it to a buddy of mine, and now she is trying to puchase it for herself, but she cannot find it. WHAT HAPPENED, WHY ISN'T IT AVAILABLE ANYMORE???? I've had this steamvac for years and I've had not one single problem with it, running like brand new.
Only worked 3 times!
I purchased this a little over a year ago and just finished using it for the third time. The first two times it worked wonderful. However just now all it did was leak the whole time I was trying to use it. The brush would not turn off when switched to the off position and was still running with the tool lever turned on tool, which is supposed to turn the brush off. The entire first tank of water I put on leaked out all over the floor in a matter of 5 minutes while the machine wasn't even turned on! The hand tool would not stop pouring water out of it and I checked everything to make sure I didn't have something connected wrong. Thank goodness it was plugged into a surge protector and it popped it or I probably would have gotten electrocuted! I do not think any product that cost what one of these cost is worth the money for a product that only works three times!

Eureka AirExcel Compact NLS Canister Vacuum

Eureka AirExcel Compact NLS Canister Vacuum

Eureka AirExcel Compact NLS Canister Vacuum

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]I'm impressed with it
I bought this vacuum to make cleaning my laminate floors a little easier with dog hair, crumbs, outside dirt, grass, etc. So far it has delivered and more in making it a breeze to go through the house compared to my upright Eureka I had been using for a few years now. This is my first canister vacuum, it definitely is compact, the bin is small where the dirt goes, but my house isn't that huge and I would think anyone who vacuums often enough to not fill up the canister in one use would want to clean it out after using it each time. Emptying the dirt is so simple, unhook it from the base, go over to the trashcan, unsnap the bottom and the dirt falls right into your trashcan.
Biggest Pro to this little device is the suction, I was shocked at how much suction it had. If I vacuum over a area rug it sticks fast and if you push it to clean on the rug it picks up the rug, I managed a way to get it to not suck fast, but on my laminate floors, it glides nicely sucks up everything in it's...
Too Much!
When I first read the reviews for this product I thought that too much emphasis was placed on the sheer pulling power of the vacuum. Normally when we look to purchase one we look for the amps and whether or not it has enough power to get deep down in the rugs as well as the easy jobs with hardwood floors, etc.

Well, to my serious amazement, this little machine CAN PULL!

Right out of the box I began using the unit. The first thing I found was that the "plastic" used to make the cleaner's body wasn't a cheap plastic, and even though the Hepa Filter wheel seemed to be a little loose, it didn't make a difference to me, mainly because I would carry around the machine while cleaning anyway. As soon as I lowered the arm to begin cleaning, the immediate sucking power was VERY noticeable. So much so, that after I finished cleaning, I opened up the easily accessible dust bin, and out came about two inches or so of pure dirt. Now I'm considered a pretty neat person, and...
Does not glide on carpet at all. Shouldn't be called multi-surface.
Great suction and works very well on tile and hard wood... however, the product photos and description lead me to believe it would work on carpet which makes up about half of my home and it doesn't glide on carpet at all.

Factory-Reconditioned Black & Decker PSV1800R 18V Cordless Pivoting Floor Vac

Does an excellent job - especially on hardwood floors. It is a little bit noisy. I did mention to Amazon that I did not receive an operators manual - they gave me an email contact and was able to copy off the manual on my computer - I appreciated Amazon helping me and doing it in a timely manner.
Great for smooth floors and light carpet duty
I bought this vac for my tile and laminate floors and to replace the handheld dustbuster that I use occasionaly on my carpets. All of my heavy use floors areas are carpetless. This vac is great for picking up dust, crumbs and most everything else. For the carpet it is fine to use between regular vacuuming to keep the carpet looking spotless.
The vac is light to use, takes up little space and has more power than I expected.
The reconditioned model is the same as the new except the warranty is shorter.
Great vacuum for little jobs
We always need a small vacuum to use after meal times with the kids. This one has done a good job at cleaning up the vinyl floor. It also does well at cleaning up hair after haircuts. The charging stand makes it easy to keep it close at hand in a corner ready to use at all times. It's a bit bulky for a handheld, but is not too difficult to haul around the house. I like the folding design because it doesn't take up as much room when not in use. I like that it is cordless because dealing with a cord for small vacuuming jobs is a pain (I know from experience with our previous small vacuums). The other reviewer is right--it does not hold a charge very long. Long enough to get small jobs done, but not enough for major work. We have also found now after about 18 months that it is getting worse and worse at holding a charge. The battery seems to be dying. I will probably still buy another one of these. No small vacuum seems to last very long no matter who makes it. We've had different models...

The telescoping twist-lock poles are a dream to work with. This is particularly so when you use the poles for other things such as a 3rd and 4th hand when putting up 4 foot light fixtures, sheetrock, and even fold down attic stairs. In fact I use these poles for these things more than I do for dirt control.
Be careful
Be careful when ordering this product. The photo shows 4 poles, no where does it say you need TWO kits to make a room as shown. The description say it has two poles, but the room needs 4 poles to work.
They work great
I used these to block off an area in my kitchen for drywall work. In the past I've improvised barrier walls by nailing wood sticks to my ceilings to hold plastic sheeting - it took alot of time and painters tape to create a good barrier and seal, and left me with nail-holes to patch in the ceiling. The Zip Wall poles are so intuitive to use and effective. I am a product designer and expected to find details that needed improvement or bothered me - i didn't find any! A little pricey but they've definitely 'sweated' the details - they are very well designed and made.

Description : SLP2 Features: -Each ZipWall SLP2 package contains two 12' aluminum Spring Loaded poles (SLPs), and accessories. Use them to create a temporary dust barrier of any length in minutes without the use of tape, staples or ladders. That saves time and costly repairs to painted surfaces and will increase customer satisfaction. Consider this example: A 30 foot long 11 foot high barrier takes about 1 hour to build using conventional methods. With the ZipWall system, the same barrier can be completed by one person in under 5 minutes..-The ZipWall Dust Barrier System is patented and has many advantages over conventional methods. The twist-locking pole lets you raise the sheeting without a ladder. The non-skid, non-marking material at the top grabs the ceiling, while the non-skid GripDisk under the foot keeps the pole locked in position at the floor. Spring Loading lets you lift the pole to tuck the sheeting underneath for easy setup. It also maintains constant tension on the barrier, to compensate for movement at the ceiling or at the floor if the poles are bumped, or if there is a lot of air movement..-All ZipWall poles are ideal for dropped ceilings. Spring Loading automatically adjusts the pole height to compensate for any movement of the grid during setup. Just place the poles so the tops push against the grid, then follow the grid until you've contained the area..-SLP poles extend from 4 feet 7 inches to 12 feet. They are clear anodized aluminum and weigh just 1.5lbs each. Poles should be placed every 8' to 10' or closer if there is a lot of air movement. A GripDisk under each pole secures the pole on smooth flooring like vinyl or wood. SLP poles can accept any plastic or cloth sheeting up to 8 mils thick and can support up to 110 lbs. These poles work with all ZipWall accessories including: Foam Rails, Side Clamps and self adhesive zippers and more..

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]Great for scrubbing
I have 200 sq feet of Italian tile flooring that took me 8 hours to hand scrub to get looking clean (cleaning the grout was especially troubling). After doing a lot of research, I realized this near-industrial tool was what I needed.

I also have an older dog that sometimes goes on the carpet. I used this machine with Koblenz Carpet Shampoo and Koblenz Deodorizer (2 different products) and the spots and urine odor are gone. Great tool for touch ups.

This machine is a SCRUBBER. It will lay down liquid for you and scrub for you, but it won't remove the liquid. For tile floors you'll have to mop up the liquid yourself. For carpets, you vacuum the cleaning residue.

I HIGHLY recommend this product. It is smartly engineered and manufactured to do a single type of job. It has a metal "chassis", brass bushings, and the reservior tank is made of sturdy plastic. I haven't had anything break, but if something does break, parts are available on line and...
Great machine for home use
My wife and I live in S.FLA with an all-tile home. The grout and tile are white. Normal mopping cannot clean out all of the dirt in the texture of tiles and truly causes the grout to become dirtier with mopping. I used the hard brushes and sprayed each grout joint with a cheap (private label Publix brand) stain and mildew remover ($3/bottle). I let the cleaner set for awhile, but not long enough to allow it to dry/evaporate. I turned on the machine and merely let the cleaner do all of the work. It cleaned up most of the grout, did a fabulous job on the tile. Once in awhile (not often) I had to rest my foot on the machine to put a little more pressure on the floor. After floor dried, I needed to do minimal touch up work on hands and knees. It save me a lot of hard- hands and knees scrubbing.
does Okay, better than anything else I've found
Very easy to set up and use. I bought this system to clean my tile floors and grout lines. The brushes spin, however, there is not enough weight to push the brushes into all the grooves. I plan on using it frequently for a while and hopefully I'll be able to get most of the dirt out, but I think I'm back on my hands and knees to get that grout clean. This machine can't get it clean but maybe it can keep it clean once I scrub it out.

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]Great choice
This little robot vacuum is wonderful. I use it in my kitchen while I'm loading the dishwasher and suddenly I'm twice as productive!

It does get stuck sometimes on shaggy rugs and underneath cabinets in the kitchen but you can see it trying to wiggle its way out, and sometimes it succeeds. Definitely a terrific and more reasonable alternative to the more popular choices out there for robot vacuums.
Terrible Battery
I purchased this item from another online retailer and was initially very happy with the purchase. We have three dogs so there is a lot of dog hair in my house. This unit did a pretty good job picking up all the hair. It did get stuck on occasion but we expected that so it was no big deal. After about 4 months of daily use, the battery died. The unit has enough juice to work for about 1 minute, then it goes searching for the base to charge.Searching online for a replacement battery is fruitless, they are out of stock every where you look, even at the Metapo site. IMO these should no longer be on the market if you can't purchase replacement batteries.
Satisfied
I only have hardwood floors and for the money this guy does a great job. My roommate has a long hair cat that spends most of the day spreading a fine layer of white cat hair all over the living room and kitchen floor. I needed something to be just as diligent picking this hair up. Now, every workday (you can program it not to operate during the weekend) at noon this little guy springs into action and bumps blindly around for 20 min collecting all the hair as well as dust, dirt, crumbs and cheerios before parking itself back at its base. Once a week I empty the bin which is always FULL of stuff. For the price, love it. I'm getting another one for the bedroom. The detachable remote is great for telling it to take the day off if you happen to be home and don't want the noise. The only improvement I can think of is being better at finding its base. It often takes the long way home...

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]So that's what color my carpets actually were...
We should really be hired to test vacuum and carpet cleaners, but even so the price of this dream clean machine gave me some pause (okay, a lot). With 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 2 cats and fairly light carpets, we put our cleaners to the test. I have gone through SEVERAL carpet cleaners (roughly 1 every 2 years) and have also had the carpets professionally cleaned. Honestly, this carpet cleaner cleaned as well if not better than the pros, and worlds better than our current Hoover F6207-900 SteamVac Lite Carpet Cleaner with Heated Cleaning.

Pros:
1) Handle can lay back fully with no strain on the hose - I mention this after replacing the hoses several times on previous Hoovers
2) You do NOT have to mix the detergent!!!! Wow - what a great feature, no waste!
3) 2 separate rollers actually scrub the carpet amazingly well
4) No fuss dial system - incredibly easy to go between standard clean,...
Great machine--very impressed!
I bought this cleaner yesterday after reading many reviews. My little Bissel steam cleaner stopped vacuuming up the solution after just using it 10 times, so I decided to invest in something I won't have to replace once a year. I was nervous at first because the cleaner is very expensive compared to other cleaners, and putting it together, I was terrified it would break, as it's made of plastic which doesn't feel very strong to me. It was simple to put together and get started, and once I started cleaning, I knew I'd made a good choice. I cleaned the carpet in my 17 month old son's room, and was shocked at how differently this cleaner worked compared to my Bissel. With my Bissel, an entire gallon of solution was sprayed onto my carpet, but only a few ounces of the solution was vacuumed up. I contacted Bissel and they assured me this was normal, as I have thick carpets. However, the carpets sometimes took 24 hours or more to dry, which is very frustrating. Needless to say, I hardly...
Really Impressive -- For the 2 Weeks it Worked
I have dogs so I'm always on the lookout for a better and easier way to clean my carpets. I bought this top-of-the-line Hoover Platinum Carpet Cleaner a few months ago. I used it no more than 5 times for some quick clean ups in the first couple of weeks and was very impressed. It did such a good job making "clean spots" that I took it out on the weekend to do the whole carpet.

I used the cleaner as indicated in the manual, and I used only Hoover Platinum cleaning solutions. After cleaning about 120 square feet, in mid-clean, the steamer stopped dead. There was no problem with the outlet; the machine was totally unresponsive. I cleaned it out, put it away, and tried it again the next morning thinking it might have overheated. Still dead, so I returned it. I expected a lot more from a top-of-the-line product from a reputable company.

My experience may not be typical; the cleaner might have been defective. It has a lot of good features, but it also has drawbacks...

[gallery columns="4" orderby="rand"]The Steam Canister SHOWDOWN: I've done the comparisons for you
I have had my eye on the Ladybug steamer for months now, drooling over all it could do but it was far out of my price range. I own the Envirosteamer steam floor mop and love it, but I wanted something to get into tight spaces like around the toilet, in the tub, the oven, etc. With some Santa money I got more serious about purchasing a canister steamer in addition to my floor steamer and began some comparative testing and studying. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood that is all "green built certified" which means, in order to have a green rating, all homes were built with no carpet and lots of people hate chemicals which means it's a neighborhood full of steam mops which makes comparing the models quite easy. That's a good thing because it just saved me over a thousand bucks because I wound up no longer wanting the Ladybug. Here's how they rate...you decide which is best for you:

These are the canister mops I compared:
Vapamore MR-100
Ladybug XL-2300
Haan...
Does a good job cleaning - but there are cheaper identical units
The Vapamore MR100 is split into two different links on Amazon. I posted this review under the other link, but it is relavant here too:

Steams grout and other things really really well. Better temp and pressure than the McCullogh and Wagner units. This unit develops a temp of 250 degrees and up to 58 psi (and has a flow adjustment). The unit itself and the hose seem well made, but the handle grip and all the attachments (and wheels) are somewhat cheap and flimsy, especially for a $300 appliance. I practically wore out the grout brush on first use, (although it was a lot of tile - - about 200 sq ft), and now I need to buy another grout brush attachment. The bristles on the large floor attachment were partially laid down after my first use also. Here's the kicker, you can find 2 identical cleaners (with identical attachment sets)... the Steam Extreme 3000 and Steampal Turbo which both sell for about $200, which is $100 cheaper than the Vapamore. Vapamore literature says that...
